This month, we’d like to shine a light on someone very special to us — Lucy, the lovely and talented lady behind CHM Crafts, who creates our tote bags for our moving-in gifts.
We love supporting local businesses, particularly when we get to work with people who put so much care into what they do. Lucy is one of those people, and we thought it was about time we introduced you to the woman behind the business.
From a Hobby to a Thriving Creative Business
Behind CHM Crafts is Lucy, a creative who has turned something that began as a hobby many years ago into an established personalised gifting and creative business.
What started with a simple love of making things has gradually grown into a business offering a huge variety of personalised products for individuals, families, celebrations, schools and fellow local businesses, including us!
Over the years, Lucy has built up an incredible amount of knowledge and experience, working with different materials, techniques and equipment. As CHM Crafts has grown, so has her workshop, with new and upgraded equipment allowing her to take on increasingly detailed and bespoke projects.
Despite how much the business has evolved, that original enjoyment of taking an idea and creating something from scratch is still very much at the heart of everything Lucy does.
No Two Orders Are the Same
One of the things that makes CHM Crafts so special is the sheer variety of Lucy’s work.
From personalised mugs and gifts to wedding items, signs, decorations, bags and completely bespoke creations, no two days, or orders, are necessarily the same.
Personalisation is at the heart of the business. Some customers know exactly what they want, while others might come to Lucy with nothing more than an idea, an inspiration picture, a colour scheme or a name.
That’s where Lucy’s creativity really comes into its own.
It’s not simply about adding a name to an item. Lucy considers the materials, colours, finishes and techniques needed to turn an idea into something that looks and feels just right.
Supporting Other Local Businesses
Something we particularly love about CHM Crafts is Lucy’s work with other small and local businesses.
Over the years, she has created products for estate agents, cake makers, Photographers, schools and many more, often producing something completely bespoke to suit the individual business.
We know first-hand how lovely it is to work with Lucy, as she is the person behind our own bags. Having someone local who understands what you’re looking for and can turn an idea into a finished product makes such a difference.
These collaborations also allow Lucy to use her creativity in completely different ways, while building relationships with other businesses in the local community.
The Work You Don’t Always See
Of course, there is much more to CHM Crafts than the beautiful finished products.
Behind every order is designing, preparing artwork, choosing materials, making and finishing the item, checking every detail, packaging orders, and managing everything else that comes with running a small business.
Lucy is also constantly developing new ideas, introducing new products and finding ways to improve and adapt existing ones.
All of this happens alongside family life, making what Lucy has built with CHM Crafts even more impressive.
Our Business of the Month
We’re delighted to make CHM Crafts our Business of the Month and give Lucy some very well-deserved recognition.
From starting out with a hobby to building a business capable of taking on everything from one-off personalised gifts to bespoke orders for other businesses, Lucy has never lost the creativity and personal touch that started it all.
Whether an order is big or small, each one receives the same care and attention to detail, with Lucy making sure the finished piece is something her customer can genuinely be proud of.
And, of course, we’re particularly grateful to have Lucy working her magic on our bags!
